They Call Me Mister Fry set for Academy Theatre
Nov 1, 2012

The Call Me Mister FryAcademy Theatre presents They Call Me Mister Fry, the award winning and internationally acclaimed one-man show written by and starring Jack Fry, and directed by Jeff Michalski which has run for more than 3 years in Los Angeles and performed to critical acclaim, standing ovations and sold out houses across the country including a 3 month extended off-Broadway run at the Comic Strip Live Theater, 2 command performances for the Department of Education in Washington DC, several return engagements to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and endorsed by Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report.

The show examines and explores the interaction of two 5th grade students and their families with Mr. Fry, and how they affected each other's lives. Both students are confronted with personal individual and family tragedies. As Mr. Fry battles his students, King Arthur, and his own personal frailties, his students mold him from a "buffoon" to a "great teacher." On the way, he struggles to find his place in the world in this "oddly inspiring" (Los Angeles Times) true story about transformation, redemption, and what we think our purpose is.
