Alliance Theatre's A Christmas Carol
Oct 30, 2015

A Christmas CarolA Christmas Carol, Alliance Theatre's annual holiday gift to Atlanta, returns for its 26th season, November 19- December 27, 2015. The most heartwarming story of the season comes to life with holiday carols, stunning stage magic, and your favorite Atlanta actors. Directed by Rosemary Newcott, the Sally G. Tomlinson Artistic Director of Theatre for Youth and Families, A Christmas Carol has become a tradition for many families around the southeast.

Returning to the cast in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge is acclaimed Atlanta actor David de Vries. De Vries's credits include the Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast (playing Lumiere) and the National Tour of Wicked (playing Dr. Dillamond). Some of his recent Alliance Theatre credits include One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Shrek, and Carapace. De Vries first performed as Scrooge last year following the retirement of actor Chris Kayser, who retired from the role after playing Scrooge for 16 of the last 20 seasons. Kayser will return to the production this year in the role of Jacob Marley, marking his 21st time in this production.

"Each year the family of the Alliance's production of A Christmas Carol reunites with the families in our community to share in the feast of this production," said Director Rosemary Newcott. "How fortunate that Chris Kayser will be back as a returning member of the 'brood' to bring his inimitable spirit to the character of Marley, opposite David de Vries's powerful portrayal of Scrooge. I am looking forward to this match-up!"

The Alliance is also pleased to announce that eleven-year-old Jaden Robinson will return to the role of Tiny Tim for the third year. Other Christmas Carol favorites returning to reprise their roles include Thomas Neal Antwon Ghant as Bob Cratchit; Bart Hansard as Mr. Fezziwig/Christmas Present; Je Nie Fleming as Mrs. Fezziwig/Mrs. Dilber; Elizabeth Diane Wells as Christmas Past; Joe Knezevich as Fred, Laurie Williamson as Bess; Courtney Patterson as Mrs. Cratchit; and Lowrey Brown as Young Scrooge. New cast members to the production this year include Shelli Delgado as Fan/Martha; Randi Garza as Belle, Michael Stiggers as Dick Wilkins, and more.

In this tale of redemption, Ebenezer Scrooge goes to sleep on Christmas Eve as a miserly, stone-hearted man and awakens on Christmas Day with a compassionate and benevolent heart after his encounter with three ghosts. Celebrate this magnificent staging of Charles Dickens's classic Christmas tale and Ebenezer Scrooge's eye-opening Christmas Eve journey.
