Serenbe Playhouse to Present The Sleepy Hollow Experience
Sep 23, 2015

The Sleepy Hollow ExperienceAfter two sold-out seasons, Serenbe Playhouse is proud to revive The Sleepy Hollow Experience in new thrilling (and bone-chilling) ways. For its third season the show will be more barbaric than ever, taking the tale of Ichabod, Katrina, and Brom Bones to new heights. For those who thought previous performances were bloodcurdling in the stables, wait until you see the story unfold before your very eyes in the shadowed, haunting openness of The Horseman's Meadow. More immersive and terrifying than ever, and able to accommodate more casualties - er, spectators than ever before - The Sleepy Hollow Experience - dare we say it - is coming back with a vengeance.

"For our third revival of The Sleepy Hollow Experience we wanted to really shake things up," says director Brian Clowdus. "We are working with Set Designer Adam Koch to move the show out of the stables to accommodate larger audiences and create an even spookier experience in the middle of the woods. Adam has created a skeleton of a town with an actual covered bridge constructed out of hundreds of recycled shipping pallets. This is Tarry Town like you have never seen and the excitement is showing in our highest pre-sales to date. It's sure to be another sell out!"

Returning to help tell the tale of the Headless Horseman are Atlanta and Playhouse favorites Laura Floyd and Jessica Miesel. The charming Chris Mayers will also return as Ichabod Crane. New to the family this year are Justin Walker as the mighty Brom Bones and Daniel Burns playing opposite Floyd as a Storyteller.

This year, the production team, lead by director Brian Clowdus, is excited to welcome Adam Koch as scenic designer. Koch comes to Serenbe through a special partnership with AIR - Serenbe's Artist In Residence program. "Creating this new Sleepy Hollow has been like the ultimate time travel back through childhood, and the childhood imagination, and my early love of American legends, haunted houses, and ghost stories," says Koch. "And, like kids at play, but with the added layer of adult hard work in the Fall sun, we've mapped out a real life audience journey through the idyllic, lantern-lit streams and black forests of Tarry Town. Actually walking through the covered bridge in the dead of the night, I would say it feels like being in a movie, but it's so much better."

The production team also includes Assistant Director Ryan Oliveti and Sound and Lighting Designer Bobby Johnston.
