King Hedley II
Southwest Arts Center
915 New Hope Road Atlanta, GA 30331
The penultimate production in playwright August Wilson's acclaimed Pittsburgh Cycle, King Hedley II transports you to the 1980's, where you find the titular character struggling to rebuild his life. He's an ex-con peddling stolen refrigerators to save up for his own business and hopefully start anew. Desperately fighting to overcome his record, his family and a world that's against him, King spends his time trying to plant seeds in a garden where nothing can grow. This becomes the perfect metaphor for his life and his dreams, which are seemingly doomed to a violent end. True Colors Theater Company brings Wilson's dark, symbolic Pulitzer- and Tony-nominated play to the Southwest Arts Center in Atlanta.
