A humorous celebration of the church kitchen and the women who work there, Church Basement Ladies is a musical comedy, set in 1965, about four ladies who cook meals for a Minnesota parish's functions. As the quartet cooks and interacts, they handle challenges like the funeral of a dear friend, a record-breaking Christmas dinner, a steaming hot July wedding and a Hawaiian Easter fundraiser. From the elderly matriarch to the young bride-to-be learning her way around the kitchen, the four friends share, via their memories, what is was like to grow up Lutheran in the Midwest.
