Literary scholar Javier Ávila has emerged as a powerful voice for Latinos in the U.S. The Trouble With My Name is a 70-minute piece that sheds light on the American Latino experience, as well as the state of diversity and inclusion in this changing political climate. The production draws from the arts, education and entertainment to deliver a powerful message about who we are as a society. Through his poetry, autobiography and humor, Ávila examines the complexities of identity as a cultural construct. His one man-show now comes to Marietta's New Theatre in the Square in Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
