Academy Award-Winning Writer of Ghost the Musical Attends Georgia Ensemble Theatre's Hit Production
Sep 22, 2016

Ghost the MusicalGeorgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, opened its 24th Season with the Southeastern premiere of Ghost The Musical just last week, and already news of the production is reaching far and wide.

As a great surprise at yesterday's Wednesday night performance, GET welcomed a very special visitor - Bruce Joel Rubin, the Academy Award-winning writer of the 1990 film Ghost, and subsequently, Ghost the Musical. Mr. Rubin traveled to Roswell to take in the show and, much to the delight of the patrons and cast, he stayed on after the show and did a talk-back, hosted by GET Artistic Director Robert Farley (also the show's director).

Answering questions about both the movie and the musical, the crowd was treated to inside stories from Rubin about the writing and casting of the movie, how the musical came to be, and what it was like for him to win an Oscar.

"It was such a pleasure to have Mr. Rubin here to see the show and share his experiences with us afterward. He had very nice things to say about our production and the cast, so we're very pleased," said Farley at the end of the night.

About the Show:

With book and lyrics by Rubin (based on his film), audiences are reveling in this new version of the musical, a timeless fantasy about the power of love. As in the 1990 film, two young lovers, Sam (played by Chase Peacock) and Molly (Kylie Brown) are torn apart by a tragic crime. Psychic Oda Mae Brown (Kandice Arrington) is sought out and facilitates Sam's journey back from death to help solve his own murder. The story is brought to life with music and lyrics by Dave Stewart (The Eurythmics) and Glen Ballard (Michael Jackson's Thriller).

Performances have limited run dates for through October 2nd, 2016, Wednesdays through Sundays. Sponsor for this blockbuster show is longtime GET corporate partner, Macy's.
