The Prom, the hilarious new musical playing its Pre-Broadway World Premiere now at Atlanta's ALLIANCE THEATRE, officially opened on September 7.

The Prom features a stellar cast of Broadway favorites, including Tony Award nominee Brooks Ashmanskas (Barry Glickman), Tony Award-winner Beth l (Dee Dee Allen), Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber (Trent Oliver), Anna Grace Barlow (Alyssa), Caitlin Kinnunen(Emma), Martin Moran (Mr. Hawkins), Angie Schworer (Angie), and Atlanta locals Courtenay Collins (Mrs. Green), and Josh Lamon (Sheldon Saperstein).

Variety, Frank Rizzo: Transformation is the emotional thread deftly woven throughout, in the town's shifting attitude toward Emma in "Love Thy Neighbor" (though that old saw of a theme could use some freshening); in Emma finding her inner "zazz," thanks to Schworer's fantastic leggy lesson; even in Dee Dee's attempt at caring for others - while still staying in the spotlight - in the belter "The Lady's Improving."

Wendell Brock, The Atlanta Journal Constitution: A crowd-pleasing spectacle with a well-intentioned message and enough youthful energy to fuel Broadway's "Bring It On: The Musical" (which opened at the Alliance in 2011) and Disney's "High School Musical" franchise in its entirety, "The Prom" is delightful good fun.... Director-choreographer Casey Nicholaw ("Tuck Everlasting," "The Book of Mormon") has assembled a mostly top-notch cast and design team. (Scott Pask's set, Ann Roth and Matthew Pachtman's costumes and Kenneth Posner's lighting suit the story superbly.) And Nicholaw has created dances that set the mood for this journey of teenage angst and raucous navel-gazing.

The writers of this show hit home with me by including of all the pressures and insecurities that teenagers have to face in this time in such a genuine way. Incorporating social media like YouTube in the show was a great thing to see- it was like a celebration of social networks and the incredible power of them. As teens we are constantly told of the dangers of social media instead of the positive impact it can make on today's society- uniting people of all backgrounds and beliefs.
