Staging the beloved Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is a nearly as old as the book itself. In fact, a year after it was published in 1843, eight different theatrical productions were running in London. The impulse is obvious: it's a tale written for the stage. Ebenezer Scrooge is a tightfisted miser, hellbent on hoarding his money, when he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.
