The stunning Thurgood recounts a childhood in the back alleys of Baltimore and a rise to sitting on the highest court in the country, where he'd go down in history not only as the first Afrian-American Supreme Court Justice, but also for his work on the landmark civil rights case Brown v. Board of Education. This powerful solo show, previously performed by James Earl Jones and Laurence Fishburne (on Broadway and in an HBO special), was written by Emmy-winning writer-director George Stevens Jr., whose impressive catalog of work honoring real-life icons includes the Emmy-winning coverage of Obama's inauguration and the Thurgood Marshall miniseries Separate but Equal, starring Sidney Poitier.
